Why we do not sell a board you can pick at

Why we do not sell a board you can pick at

There is no board sitting in a fridge waiting to be sold. Everything is assembled after you order it, which means a same-day local order is genuinely possible and a two-day notice is not.

The reason

A pre-assembled board has to be made days ahead to be sold, and it has to be made for a buyer we know nothing about. It sits under plastic, it dries at the edges, and by the time it arrives the fruit has moved and the crackers have gone soft. Assembling to order costs us more time per board and it means what arrives is what was made that morning.

The cost, plainly

It means we cannot sell you a board in five minutes. Local delivery is same-day but has to be ordered before an early cut-off, and nationwide shipping is overnight on a weekday, so the order has to be in a business day before. If you need a board this afternoon, we will tell you we cannot rather than ship you something that was sitting in a chiller since Tuesday.

What we would change about it

If we had a second kitchen built for this we would. The constraint is capacity, not principle. Being able to sell a board you can walk out with would suit a lot of occasions that we currently have to say no to.
