Engraving a board: what fits and what does not

Engraving a board: what fits and what does not

Engraving is laser-etched into the board itself, not printed on it, so there is a real physical limit to how much can go on and still be legible when the board is on a table in low light.

The working limits

A company name of up to about twenty characters, or a short phrase of up to around thirty. A date below that. A logo works if it is a line drawing rather than a photograph, and it works better on the larger sizes because there is more surface to work with.

What we would rather you did not do

Do not plan a board around a long address, a full phone number and a website. That is a business card, and a business card belongs in the card insert. The insert costs a tenth of what engraving a block of text costs, and it can hold far more.

Notice

Engraving is a separate production step, so a personalised order needs two weeks and a plain one needs three days. If you are planning around a date, work backwards from the ship date rather than the delivery date, and tell us early.
